The Gray Fox is Simply Wonderful

I still cannot believe my luck— three days ago as I was making dinner, something caught my eye out the window… This stunning relative— called a “gray fox”— is actually uncommon up north, but more common down south. A year ago a gray fox was visiting our sunflower feeder at night, and so all I had was a vague image of what this wonderful animal might look like in real life. On April 16th, in the evening but still plenty of daylight, this gorgeous animal came strolling through the forest at just the right time to catch my eye out the kitchen window— a few minutes later the fox climbed up on a log, posed for about two full minutes, and then walked on…. I did not get to witness the tree climbing the gray fox is known for— they can rotate their feet 180% to make them skilled climbers!
